General Meeting at Randee Gabriel’s Home, Kihei - July 12, 2011

The Meeting was called to order at 6:15 PM by Dennis Chamberlain.
Introductions and updates were made.
Treasurer’s Report: Karuna reported that there is $2807.95 in the bank.
The January to June income was: $200 for the Lanai show; $985 for
membership fees; and $6 donation. Expenses: $30.90 website dues and $300
Website Report: Bill Cox is keeping the website updated. He recommended
each member check the MGAA members only area. Google also finds the site
and meeting info. Glass forum is available and there are pages for ads as
well as member information. He has included pre-& post meeting notes. All
is archivable for future reference.
Events: The Waikamoi Hikes: The first hike was a tremendous success and
another is scheduled for July 20th. Departure from Pukalani Ace Hardware
at 8:30 AM and carpool to the park. Return is between 1 & 2 PM. The guide
is from the Nature Conservancy and it is a moderately difficult 2.5 miles.
Lanai Exhibition is scheduled for fall; October/November. No definite
date, new management for the Four Seasons Resort Lance from the Lanai Art
Center will help coordinate with the new management.
“Out of the Kiln” Joint Exhibition with the Maui Ceramic Artists will
include glass, bronzes, ceramics, jewelry, etc. Possible location would be
the Maui Mall which often hosts such events for non-profits. A committee
is needed to help organize. Volunteers please contact Dennis or any board
Holiday Glass Benefit with “Camp Amua” of the Amua Family Services. The
group is under reorganization but there is another possibility for a fall
show before Thanksgiving.
The MGAA board has given formal OK to the Hui for a glass show in May/June
of 2012: Theme: Glass in Paradise II.
Visualizing Green Show at the Hui. Check their website and Dennis’ last
Tom Calhoun wants to collaborate with a glass artist who does casting for
a major piece. Check with Dennis or the website.
Maui Open Studio sign up has begun. Deadline for discounts is August 1st.
If MGAA artists wish to participate in a full page ad, contact Dennis.
Other Business: The Hui wants another “Donate a Holiday Ornament” for a
fundraiser. MG AA would like to sponsor a whole tree with glass ornaments
from our membership only. Marci @ Hui will be contacted and we should have
details by next meeting.
The Shops at Ma’alaea for Maui Artists is still an active site. Randee
checked it out and although the signage is very poor, the space is nice
with a good number of artists/booths. Business is definitely best during
Next meeting September 8th, site to be announced and following that,
